    FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own.

People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. In your work with your therapist, they’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.”

    How will my sessions look?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. Your therapist will tailor their therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

Is there a fee for a missed or late canceled appointment?

Yes, there is a fee for anyone who cancels an appointment less than 24 hours before it is scheduled to occur. We ask that you cancel or reschedule your appointment as soon as you realize you are unable to attend. This allows your therapist to offer the appointment time to someone else who needs it, and it respects the time your therapist reserved specifically for you.

I need a letter for an Emotional Support Animal. Is this something you can do?

Unfortunately, Serenity Counseling & Wellness does not provide clients with letters for emotional support animals.

My attorney plans to serve you a subpoena for deposition or testimony in my court case.

If your therapist receives a subpoena to testify or be deposed in your court case, the cost will be $400 per day. This covers loss of office hours, chart copying, and travel costs.

Can my therapist complete my paperwork for FMLA and/or short-term disability?

Yes, your licensed provider can complete this paperwork for you; however, there is a fee of $150 per hour or $40 if the paperwork does not require an hour of work. This cannot be billed to insurance; therefore, the client is responsible for the fee.
